Sixties Soft Rock Review: The first clip on Passport Video's =Sixties Soft Rock DVD is good enough: the Turtles in a robust version of "You Baby,". But the second clip -- of the Association in their original lineup doing "One Too Many Mornings" live -- is worth the price of the disc by itself; those guys really could generate that sound on-stage. Equally impressive are the Rascals doing "Good Lovin'" (again, really live, on the vocals and the instruments). The Dixie Cups are almost overwhelmed by the Hullabaloo dancers around them on "You're Adorable," and the same is nearly true of Lesley Gore on "It's My Party" and "Sunshine, Lollipops, and Rainbows." The Vogues doing "Five O'Clock World" are singing live, and, yes, Gary Lewis & the Playboys are doing "Everybody Loves a Clown" with live vocals (and in color). The Everly Brothers bring such spirit to "The Price of Love," and the other highlights (apart from Len Barry, whose presence here is an automatic bonus), include the real surprise: the Toys, singing live on "A Lover's Concerto."
