High School Musical: The Concert Review: High School Musical has become something of a cash cow for Disney and the studio is certainly milking it for all it's worth. There are soundtrack and karaoke recordings, spin-off books and even an ice show. The original movie has been released on DVD in an Encore Edition and the two-disc Remix Edition. This does not even take into account the hotly anticipated sequel and its attendant merchandising. So what does The Concert: Extreme Access Pass bring to the party? It captures all the cheesy charms of this exuberant stage show featuring most of the original cast members, who perform (lip-sync?) songs from the film. Missing in action is Zac Effron, who was filming Hairspray; in his place is "special guest" Drew Seeley, who dubbed Efron's vocals in the film. Newly minted tween idols Ashley Tisdale and Corbin Bleu also perform disposable pop songs from their solo albums. Highlights include the show-stoppers "Get'cha Head in the Game" and the Latin-flavored "Bop to the Top. One of the bonus segments takes viewers behind the scenes and aboard the male cast members' touring bus. Another is an unwieldy "U Direct" feature that allows viewers to select different camera angles to create their own performance footage. For those who were lucky enough to score a ticket and especially for those whose cities were bypassed on the tour, this souvenir will be, to quote one of HSM's anthems, what they've been looking for.
