Morgan Freeman Urges Fans To Take Part In Nelson Mandela Day
Morgan Freeman is calling on his fans to volunteer for 67 minutes of community service to mark Nelson Mandela's upcoming birthday.
The former South African president will turn 93 on Monday, which will be marked with the 2011 Nelson Mandela Day campaign.
Activists aim to encourage devotees around the world to give up 67 minutes of their time - to mark each year Mandela has dedicated his life to fight for humanity - by serving their local community or helping charities.
Freeman, who played Mandela on the big screen in Invictus, has given his backing to the initiative and is calling for more members of the public to celebrate the occasion.
He tells CNN's Piers Morgan, "In order to celebrate his (Mandela's) life, to celebrate his birthday... we ask anyone who is interested in that celebration to do so by donating 67 minutes of their time to some community service."
