Frank Sinatra never compromised on quality. His delivery of words and melody were always true to the intent of the composer. Much of the material he chose was original and unique to him, although when he did record material other singers had already done, he rarely failed to improve upon it and he wasn't big on novelty songs as many of the other were.
I think he truly was the singer of the century. He set the standard for others to follow, and many have tried over the decades but none have attained the excellence that appeared to come so easily to him.
