I must agree with Mr. Hanks on this. I have always thought people should be able to be exactly who & what they are, especially in the land of the FREE.
With all these 'learned behavioral reasons' & peoples excuses, laws, God, etc..for people to fit that carbon copy profile of exactly what that human being is "supposed" to be, just has not happened, because every American has fought for their freedoms and If you think about it, nothing on one person's body is the same as it's counter part. So why can't people get over the differences in people & deal, it's life.
Or should everyone become another one of the 66 lines on a loose leaf piece of paper, so people aren't disturbed by any differences at all until they find something else to become disturbed about.
Seem's, the biggest excuse people are using in this debate comes down to being all about the word of God. Well I do indeed believe & have faith in God, but....when you refer to which ever books you choose to refer to, non were written by God, Jesus or the Holy Ghost. To me 'FAITH' & 'BELIEF' is what brings you close to God. Not church, not books & not hear-say.
All written text in any religion, were written by followers. Followers wrote what they felt & believed, which comes under the heading of hear-say.
God wanted all man-kind to love one another. Not to hurt one another over differences & certainly not to have to pay some one to believe.

Any one who has lost a child or any close family member, should get a clue here. It is very difficult to get through this, speaking as someone who knows very well, the pain that isn't describable in any type of snappy singular adjective reply. They say time heals all wounds. Well, it doesn't. It makes them easier to carry, but they never go away.
