He's Just Not That Into You

I think the soundtrack is fabulous! I'm generally pretty disappointed in movie soundtracks, so I listened to this one with some reservations. Wow. I couldn't have been more wrong about my expectations. This soundtrack is FABULOUS. It's a perfect combination of well-known favorites (The Cure, Human League, REM) with newcomers like Corinne Bailey Rae. The only disappointment on the disc, in my opinion, is the last track. Which "conveniently" happens to be a Scarlett Johansson song. I can understand now why critics panned her solo release last year. She's not very good. BUT...just skip over this one. The rest of the CD is worth listening to without skipping a single track!

Il Divo: Promise Album
2008-12-02 10:46:34
I heard this album and two words come to mind. "IL STINKO." This is the absolute worst music I've heard since Josh Groban first came on the scene. In fact, this is even worse. Because there are FOUR OF THEM. Imagine opera music getting it on with bad romantic standards by people like Peter Cetera. The resulting offspring is Il Divo.
I've listened to this album TWICE, and once I got past the album cover of four cheesy guys who belong in Vegas, I was able to focus more completely on the music. Which was unfortunate. Because it's absolutely not my thing at all. I respect great opera music but this, my friends, is not where it's at. This kind of stuff belongs on CD only available for purchase over the television.
I recommend giving this album as a Christmas gift to people you never want to speak with again.

Linda Eder: Other Side of Me Album
2008-10-28 10:24:48
Linda Eder is one of THE premier singers of pop standards and Broadway tunes, and her talent is definitely showcased on this newest release. I hadn't previously listened to her as I'm generally not a fan of "adult contemporary" music. I'm more of a rocker chick, which is why it was so surprising to me that I instantly fell in love with this album.
Eder's voice is so absolutely pure and gorgeous. She maintains the integrity of the standards on the album, while still bringing her own style to the selections. Her original tunes are actually GOOD! "If I Could" is a particular favorite and worthy of some radio time already!
I've been playing the album at work and I can't tell you the number of people who have come over to ask what I'm listening to. This never happens to me at work! I work with some pretty tough musical critics, so this just further convinces me that Linda Eder is as good as I think she is.
This is not an album to be missed.
