I watched today's show with Bill Gates when it ran the 1st time. The statistics are frightening and I'm glad you're running it again. However, some things still trouble me. I graduated from a diverse inner-city school--Sacramento High School(previously featured on "Oprah"). We did not have a pool nor does any high school in Crystal Lake where my kids attended.Who broke those musical instruments? Most people in their 60's who played in band still have an intact instrument.Who took the keys off of the computers? What behavior warrants having police and screeners in some high schools? I have done missionary work in impoverished Appalachia. Violence, theft and vandalism are not big issues in this area of our country....only poverty. Certainly Naperville schools are esthetically leaps and bounds better than Harper or any Crystal Lake school, for that matter. But we need to focus on the underlying issues. "Opportunities" are not presented because of the fancy resources but by parents who are having their children when they are already in commited adult relationships and ready to be overseeing their children as they do their homework, write that paper and study for that test. Kids need that guidance to succeed. This is not just an inner-city issue but an American issue as you pointed out, but the focus for "CHANGE" is clear. As Bill Cosby would say, "Come On People".
