The Uninvited

Probably one of the best "ghost story" movies ever made. However, it relies on the story, characters and dialogued and very little special effects. So, it would probably have very little appeal to most of today's pop-culture movie audience.

I'm willing to bet that this is a pop-culture cult classic that will not withstand the test of time. Personally I would rate this as one of the worst movies I've ever seen - and I often enjoy the offbeat or quirky genre.

Unfortunately a poor remake of an Argentinian film called MAN FACING SOUTHEST which lost so much in the translation.

This is probably one of the best sc-fi pictures ever made. It probably would not appeal to most audiences today. There is very little in the way of special effects. Instead it deals with an intriguing story line, great character development and meaningful, thought-provoking dialogue dealing with religion, psychology and human nature. It's obvious that K-Pax was a rather feeble attempt to recreate this film for an American audience - but lost so much in the translation - although this will be denied by the producers and writers of K-Pax.

Penny Marshall

She proved her comedic talent in Laverne and Shirley - but proved to be an even greater talent as a director - particularly with Big and Awakenings. For the latter, she should have received the Academy Award for Best Director and the film should have gotten the Best Picture Award over Dances with Wolves.
I find it interesting the only other comment here has to do with her appearance - and nothing about her talents. Unfortunately that's typical of today's pop-culture star worship. There are numerous physically attractive stars who often have very little or no real talent - but are idolized.

I believe he is definitely one of the greatest movie actors of the
20th century. Just as I feared, pop-culture has designated his
best role as Hannibal Lecter. Personally, I would classify the role
as more "campy" than great acting. I wish there was a way to get
his true take on it. There are any number of numerous, more
subtle roles (too numerous to list) that are a real tribute to his
true acting ability. He had a broad range from comedic to very
dramatic. Unfortunately most movies fans today are not interested
in films concerned with films that have meaningful dialog and
chaeacter development typical of his better efforts.

Although nominated for numerous awards and receiving some
oscars, I believe he is a very under-rated actor in the eyes of the
general public. He generally is portraying a very likable character
- but the depth of his range includes one of the most sinister and
evil characters in film history Wait Until Dark. Personally, I think
his tour de force performance was as the deaf-mute in The Heart
Is a Lonely Hunter - which has finally been released on DVD. I am
still dumbfounded that he did not receive the Academy's Best
Actor Award for that role. Although he;s had a number of recent
appearances in featured roles, I fear they are the only ones for
which he'll generally be remembered, Most people today are only
interested in the most recent and popular as far as movies are
concerned and will most likely not even glance at a number of his
films which I;m sure will be true classics.
