Movies - Re: WHATS THE MOST OVER RATED MOVIE EVER???
2008-04-12 20:36:28
I gotta go along with you there guy. Once you get past the novelty of walking on the giant gerbil wheel there was nothing to do but wait for the curtain to fall. Jonathan Livingston Seagull was first cousin to that one.
Movies - Re: Best Kick A$$ Chick: Catwoman, Wonder Woman, Charlies Angels, Lara Croft ...

Yes Laura's a favorite of mine, but ... I was watching the late movie last night and a classic action/drama/horror flick came on. I saw it in the theater years ago, B.I. {before the internet}. Because production values where way over the top for this particular flick and the talent both in writing and direction was clearly at work, the amazing RIPLEY made it top the top of my list as the definitive action hero lady. Ridley Scott and his team gave us a very believable hard a$$ no nonsense hero in Sigourney Weaver. aND NOT ONCE BUT THREE TIMES! If you kids haven't seen the original go and rent it ... ALIENS (1986)

That's about as traumatic an event as you'd ever want NOT to have in a work day.
I bet you could have seen his hand reaching down through the clouds if you looked up just then.

Wait! I think I'm getting a premonition ...
Let me go out on a limb, um ... Yes it's coming clearer now. Folks - season one of American Idol Old Farts Edition will be coming out in 2010.
( You didn't hear it from me.)
You can't trust a pixel till you get a memo from Capitol Hill.

I have a penchant for deep chocolate eyes which travel back into the recesses of my mind and ooze around my imagination like fossil fuel.
A crazy slow upturned smile is enough to generate the spark which would ignite the willing fuel.
hmm!

American Idol

What do I think about American Idol?
'Glad you asked.
There is no shortage of criticism leveled at the individual performer for 1) THEIR CHOICE OF SONGS TO SING. 2) THE PERCEIVED ENERGY LEVEL FOR EVERY SONG, FOR EVERY SINGER, FOR EVERY PERFORMANCE. and the most unfair of all ...3) The ARRANGEMENT OF THE SONG???? If Simon knows music he knows that at least 40% of the appeal of a performance falls to the back up. The musicians carry the mood [or drop it ] as the case may be in the majority of radio songs and vids. Arrangements aren't the singers job unless you're Celene Dion or Elton John. These kids have a hard enough time just remembering lyrics to songs they've never heard and have only learned six hours ago. We all judge them too quickly without considering the whole picture. Case in point is the Country singing Cooke girl. She did what she thought Simon wanted and payed for it.
The tab unfortunately was the back up band's to pay. The rhythm section had a beat that sounded like a pirate with a wooden leg was dancing out of step off stage somewhere. What a nightmare!
They have to be able to carry the tune in pitch -
The notes can't slide or bounce of the wall and come in sideways. Outside of that they need to appear as though they're comfortable with who they are on stage and that's all we should expect of them. In my opinion.

Javier Bardem: 'Movies Make Me A Sex Symbol'

The man's a realist with a balanced POV.
Mind you, that doesn't mean he shouldn't be secretly enjoying anyones misplaced fantasies.
Old age and it's inherent shun factor isn't gonna get him down much...
He'll find a country!

'Snice as photos go. Is this important?
I guess I'd prefer a Hedi La Mar hair toss. Perhaps with her head tilted back and turned slightly to her right.
'Saw her on the View. I was impressed with her accomplishments. 'Very together. She's got a BA and a Masters degree. No slouch. I got her confused with Shirley Bassy who sang a few Bond movie theme songs. This ladies 49 and Shirley Bassy is 71 I believe.

The man's a year and eleven days older than I am.
He'll be 65 in July and I'll be 64.
As it happens I'll be tending gardens myself this Spring... but Mick's likely to be busier than me.
He'll probably have to balance his time between aerating the geraniums and counting his royalties whereas I can actually take the time to just sit and watch the buggers grow.

I think the photo's of good quality. The outfit he's wearing reminds me of a painters drop sheet. He certainly looks at home with a happy choice of drinks to chose from and I think the years are gaining on him.

Aretha Franklin Could Lose Michigan Home
2008-03-19 23:25:06
The fact that the news item uses the adjectives - "Detroit Michigan" before the word HOME is a dead give away.
This is a tabloid tidbit tossed to the floor of the chicken coop (starwatcher alluded to us as being seen as chickens, 'sabout right in this case.)
They want us to emote more sympathy than we might otherwise -by giving us the picture of a homeless Queen of R&B. It's obvious that this is only one of her homes. It wouldn't be a news item if they told nothing but the truth.

Music - Re: Who's more talented, Gwen Stefani or Fergie?
2008-03-19 23:16:35
Gwen is extremely creative (she has a hands on involvement with the design of her videos) and gets my attention over Fergie. Fergie comes across as a label who's in the loop because of the great machine. She looks like she's trying. You can't look like you're doing anything but enjoying what you're doing without thought of how your sales are. While we're talking ...the more diversity I see Pink display, the more favorably impressed I am with that husky voiced mediumsized-diva.
