Melissa Leo Wants To Bring 'The Fighter' Mom To Oscars
Oscar nominee Melissa Leo wants to take the woman she played in gritty new film The Fighter to the Academy Awards with her next month.
The actress has called on ailing Ward family matriarch Alice Ward to join her at the Oscars - but she won't make plans until doctors give her the go-ahead to invite her.
The 80 year old suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this month and was briefly declared dead.
She made a miraculous recovery, was placed on life support and has since regained consciousness.
Leo tells USA Today, "She's in fragile condition in a Boston hospital... but it would be super for her to go (to the Oscars) with me but I don't know if the doctors will think that's a good idea."
Leo was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in The Fighter on Tuesday.
