Marvel Studios' "Phase Two" is well underway, with Iron Man 3 set to hit theaters next Friday and the first trailer for this fall's Thor: The Dark World making its debut early Tuesday morning.

The second wave of superhero flicks from the studio, owned by Disney, continues this November as the God of Thunder faces a new foe and has to recruit an unlikely ally.

The sequel to 2011's Thor continues where last summer's blockbuster The Avengers left off. This time around, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) returns to earth to reunite with love interest Jane Foster (Natalie Portman); and a new baddie, the dark elf Malekith (Christopher Eccleston), sets out to plunge Asgard, Earth and the rest of the Nine Realms into darkness from whence they came.

The film also stars Anthony Hopkins), Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgard, Jaimie Alexander and Zachary Levi.

Next year, Marvel's second phase continues with the April release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy in August.

The Avengers 2 is set to follow in May 2015, bringing all the heroes together again to face a new enemy.

"Thor: The Dark World" hits theaters November 8. Check out the first trailer:
