Whenever a new trend in Hollywood emerges all the celebrities need to have a piece of it! They will throw their assistants out in the streets if they aren't the first to be pictured with the hot new trend! UGG boots, Toyota Hybrids, Hermes Birken bags, skinny jeans and now Absinthe. It's the drink of choice for lots of celebrities since its recent comeback after being banned for almost a century. Lucid is one of the hottest labels to bring Absinthe back onto the market. Drinking it makes you feel a little rebellious and bad ass. Hollywood loves edgy!

Absinthe is a distilled, highly alcoholic beverage flavored with herbs such as anise and Artemisia absinthium (wormwood). Absinthe has a characteristic natural green color and is often called "the Green Fairy." Enjoyed by Vincent van Gogh (supposedly the "Green Fairy" made him cut off his ear) and Oscar Wilde, Absinthe was portrayed as a dangerously addictive psychoactive drug. The chemical thujone, present in small quantities, was blamed for its alleged harmful effects and psychoactive properties. By 1915, Absinthe had been banned in the United States and in most European countries except the United Kingdom, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, and the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Yet, there was no evidence to prove that it caused people to lose their minds and it began to surface once again in the 1990s in Europe. In 2008, nearly 200 brands of Absinthe were being produced in a dozen countries and commercial distillation in the United States resumed in 2007.

Lucid Absinthe is crafted directly from select whole herbs, including Grande Wormwood, and never from cheaper assemblages, macerations, extracts or oils. It is one of the most popular brands in the United States and it most recognizable by its black bottle with the haunting, bright green cat eyes. The fun and defiant cocktail gives you a very happy buzz right almost immediately. To enjoy, you'll need a special Absinthe spoon, some water, and a sugar cube. You pour a small amount of Lucid (less than 2 oz.) in a glass and place the Absinthe spoon (or a perforated spoon) on the rim of the glass. Put a sugar cube in the spoon and drip about 5 oz. of water on top of the sugar, which will drip into the Lucid and create your cocktail. The drink becomes a little cloudy and a licorice scent will fill the room.

Celebrities that have been reported enjoying Lucid are Gavin DeGraw, Eva Mendes, Shannon Elizabeth, Mark Wahlberg, Robert Duvall, Joaquin Phoenix, Bill Pullman, Paul Giamatti, Alex Rodriguez, Shaquille O'Neil, Taryn Manning, Sarah Jessica Parker, Clive Owen, Brody Jenner, Mena Suvari, Anne Hathaway, Danny Masterson, Elton Brand of the NBA, Seth Myers, Peter Dinklage, Foo Fighters and Pete Wentz. Lucid has also been featured on The Martha Stewart Show, The Colbert Report, Fox News Channel, and CBS Sunday Morning News. How's that for trendy?

If you're looking for a good way to spice up a party or show your friends a new drink, Lucid Absinthe is the Hollywood drink of choice!
