Last week, Courtney Love attacked Lily Allen for "locking up" Chanel dresses at the BRIT awards. Lily Allen responded via the new channel for celebrity fights: Twitter.
"…when i saw her at the NME'S she tried to talk to me and i told her to shut up stop spreading stupid rumours about me," Allen posted. "I would never fight with her," she continues," as a rule i don't pick on crazy old ladies." However, minutes later, she responds to another member's tweet with "…it's the sort of thing a paranoid drug addled lunatic might come up with."
Twitter has become the new battleground for celebrity scuffles. Why offer a snarky quote to the press when you can post something up - then pull it down at the pleas of your PR director? Here are some of the more memorable Twitter outbursts from celebrities.
Miley Cyrus perfected passive aggressive retorts when arguing with ex-boyfriend Justin Gaston. "People mistake stupidity for bravery way to easily," Justin posted, a slight directed at Miley. She responded, without linking to his tweet: "Yeah. I love when people mistake bravery with writing a few stupid tweets trying to make it seem like they don't care. You're afraid to love." Ouch!
Trent Reznor spoke out on Chris Cornell's solo effort Scream. "You know that feeling you get when somebody embarrasses themselves so badly YOU feel uncomfortable? Heard Chris Cornell's Record? Jesus." Cornell quipped back, wounded: "What do you think Jesus would twitter? 'Let he who is without sin cast the first stone' or 'Has anyone seen Judas? He was here a minute ago.'"
Perez Hilton has a knack for getting involved with celebrity fights, especially on Twitter. Travis Barker was airing out the dirty laundry with his ex-wife Shanna Moakler with a series of tweets: "Killin child molesters and careless mothers 1 tweet at a time. Kids are amazing and should never be exposed to that. Thanks for the support. Your uncle is a CONVICTED CHILD MOLESTER and you will NOT agree to keep him away from the kids. Therefore, i put u on blast. And there is a thing called a #$%^ Mom that allows such behavior and thats where u fit right in. Where is Atiana Shanna, why do u ship her out every summer where your uncle lives, why don't u spend the summer with her?"
Perez Hilton inserted himself into it by posting on his blog how stupid the argument was. Barker responded via Twitter: #$%^ PEREZ HILTON & ANYBODY ELSE THAT HIDES BEHIND A COMPUTER & TALKS #$%^. HELLA WEAK."
Perez Hilton also got in a scuffle with Demi Moore for some photos of her child in risque clothes, before getting attacked by John Mayer after Perez was punched by will.i.am's manager. "Perez Hilton's video statement is so long that by the end of it his cut healed," Mayer muses before joking: "also want to train you in an old martial art called "Never Call A Black Dude a F^&got Jitsu." Perez responded, "Dude, I get it. I GET IT. But it's not f%^king funny to me. Karma would be me losing my site and going bankrupt or what have u." Fortunately, the two have since made up.
