Lana Del Rey steams up the cover of the October British GQ -- posing nude for the magazine's 15th annual "Men of the Year Awards" issue (she was named 2012 Woman of the Year by the magazine).

Lana, real name Lizzy Grant, released her debut album 'Born To Die' January 31; and the album was met with praise despite a rough live performance on Saturday Night Live Jan. 16.

Compared to none other than Marilyn Monroe in her introduction by Boy George at Tuesday night's GQ Awards (held at London's Royal Opera House) the singer & model humbly accepted her award.

"We had a beautiful shoot in Monaco and I had a really interesting interview - for a change - and I was reminded of why I love to sing and why I wanted to become a writer," she said. "And also, Paul (Solomons), the creative director, was very hands on with the shoot."

"In fact," she adds, "if you see in the magazine - in the middle of the spread - you'll see a hand hoisting up one of my boobs -- that's Paul's hand.

"Couldn't have done it without him."

The sexy songstress' cover is one of five limited edition covers -- and we presume it's also the most desirable of the five. The others feature four guys in tuxedos: "Mad Man of the Year" John Slattery, "Solo Artist of the Year" Tinie Tempah, "Man of the Year" James Corden and "Icon of the Year" Robbie Williams.

The October issue of British GQ hits newsstands (in the UK -- sorry America!) on September 6.
