Actress Julianna Margulies has defended her hit show The Good Wife's controversial oral sex scene, insisting it was a bold move by drama co-creator Michelle King.

The former ER star's character Alicia Florrick was pleasured in a bathroom by her cheating spouse, portrayed by Chris Noth, during an episode which debuted in 2010 - and the sexy clinch immediately became a water cooler topic among fans.

Margulies admits she was initially concerned about how she'd play a woman in the throes of sexual ecstasy, but now she's proud of the scene.

She tells More magazine, "The first thing that went through my mind is, 'Oh dear God, how are we going to film this?' Then, 'Oh God, my father's going to watch the show!'

"Michelle King is so prim and proper to look at, and she's one of the raunchiest (people)...: 'Enough of this bulls**t. Alicia needs to have oral sex performed on her.'

"I truly believe she's instigating a sexual revolt for network television. I think it's brave, and I love to try things people haven't tried before."
