'Journey 3-D' To Feature Digital Photo-Real Environments
Walden Media and New Line Cinema are co-producing "Journey 3-D," an action adventure that will take advantage of the new wave of 3-D digital cinema by being the first film to be produced especially for that format. "Journey 3-D" is a modern-day story of teenager Alex Lindenbock and his scientist father, who discover a centuries-old message hidden in an ancient artifact. Determined to put the pieces of the riddle together, they race off for an adventure that will bring them face to face with never-before-seen worlds and creatures.
The film will feature spectacular, fully digital photo-real environments and will be shot in high-definition 3-D. The filmmakers will employ cameras developed for Walden Media’s large format 3-D films Ghosts of the Abyss and Aliens of the Deep, both directed by James Cameron.
Eric Brevig, winner of a Special Achievement Academy Award for his visual effects work on Total Recall, is attached to direct, with D.V. DeVincentis (High Fidelity) attached to write the screenplay. Charlotte Huggins, a 13-year veteran of 3-D movies and attractions whose large-format films have grossed over $150 million in box office, will serve as producer.
