J.J. Abrams Fuming Over 'Star Trek' Sequel Photo Leak
Super-secretive director J.J. Abrams was furious after pictures from his upcoming Star Trek sequel leaked online.
The photos showed Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana in costume as Spock and Uhura respectively, battling the film's new villain, played by British actor Benedict Cumberbatch.
Saldana reveals Abrams was not impressed with the photos after working tirelessly to keep casting and script details under wraps.
She tells MTV News, "J.J. was very upset. I have to say that. It's not going to stop people from intruding, but they are, and it's such a bummer because it only hurts them by stealing away the surprise."
Quinto has also assured fans the shots aren't representative of what actually happens in the forthcoming sci-fi film.
He adds, "That was not an actual scene that will be featured. The cameras weren't even rolling so... imagine what it'll look like when we're actually doing it. That happens, I guess. We're on incredibly big set pieces in the middle of somewhere and people sort of got wind of it."
The as-yet-untitled follow-up to the hit 2009 blockbuster is due for release in May 2013.
