Jason Aldean has expressed his shock and sadness after a man was hit and killed following a collision with his tour bus in Indiana.

On Sunday night, the Country singer was onboard the vehicle when pedestrian Albert Kennedy "walked out into the middle of the roadway," directly into the path of Aldean's bus, according to police at Knox County Sheriff's Department.

The 36 year old suffered "trauma to the head and chest" and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Aldean has since taken to his WhoSay.com blog to share the tragic news with fans and send his condolences to Kennedy's relatives, writing, "With a heavy heart, I'm sad to say that a man passed away last night after stepping out in front of my bus in Indiana.

"In all the years I've been touring and all the miles we've driven, nothing prepares you for something like this to happen. I'm praying for Albert Kennedy's family and friends today and ask that you do the same."

Authorities have launched an investigation into the accident, which occurred just one day after Aldean was forced to axe the final date on his current tour in Dallas due to torrential rain. Event organizers scrapped the open-air show amid safety fears.
