Recent set photos have revealed Jamie Foxx' look as villain Electro in the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man 2, and it's probably not what many people had in mind. A blue, creepy-looking Foxx stalks the streets of New York, his face glowing out from under his hood.

It appears Foxx is playing the "Ultimate" version of Electro, who differs greatly from the spandex-clad antagonist of the original Spider-Man. The Ultimate line of comics was launched by Marvel in 2000 to offer a separate storyline from their mainstream comics. All of their main books were re-launched, from Spider-Man (he is in high school for a majority of the story, just as he is in The Amazing Spider-Man) to the Ultimates (replacing the Avengers and heavily influencing the recent movie. The Ultimate version of Nick Fury was designed with Samuel L. Jackson in mind, who would go on to play the character).

In the Ultimate universe, Electro is bioengineered as a weapon rather than becoming a villain after a freak electricity accident. He has a special containment suit that keeps his electricity from spreading when he uses his powers and helps him focus them. Without it, he begins to glow blue and becomes pure electricity.

As if handling Electro wasn't tough enough, there have been rumors that Paul Giamatti is the unlikely choice to play Rhino, another Spidey villain. Two years ago, Giammati revealed that Rhino would be his dream role in an interview with Collider: "I thought Rhino was the greatest thing when I was a little kid. It was a guy who was basically in this rhinoceros outfit, and I always thought, 'Why don’t they have The Rhino in one of their movies.' But maybe The Rhino wasn't that big of a deal for anybody but me. … If they ever go with The Rhino, I would be ready and waiting."
