Zac Snyder teased us this past Spring with a sober, depressing photo of Batman as portrayed by Ben Affleck. Now, we have confirmation that Superman in the 2016 'Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice' will indeed be played by Henry Cavill. Warner Bros released this picture yesterday from the set of Dawn of Justice.

While the tone of this picture isn't quite as somber as Ben Affleck's Bat-pic, it still has a decidedly dark feel to it. Cavill's Superman costume hasn't really undergone any radical changes, and the overall look and feel of the character remains much the same as it was in the last "Man of Steel" movie.

It also appears that Superman isn't in Metropolis anymore. The rain, the gritty atmosphere and the darker overall feel points to the fact that Superman is standing in Gotham city - and that's Batman's turf. Just something to ponder while we're making speculations.

Batman v. Superman : Dawn of Justice, as its' name implies pits the last son of Krypton against the Caped Crusader from Gotham. We can't be sure what's put these two heroes at odds, but the precedent is not exactly foreign to the universe, as DC regularly pits superheroes at odds with each other for a variety of reasons - though the Superman and Batman conflict is probably the most well known.

The film won't be seeing the light of day until 2016, so we still have quite some time to wait. It will be featuring Gal Gadot as Wonderwoman and Jessie Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. Just because we have to wait another year and a half for Dawn of Justice to come  out, doesn't mean we can't start making predictions. Who has your money?

Will Superman prevail? Or will the Dark Knight come out on top? Let us know in the comments below.
