This week Gossip Girl proved the sad fact that even when you think people have changed, they probably haven't. Georgina (Michelle Trachtenberg) was still out to destroy Blair (Leighton Meester). Her first step was destroying Blair's gag reflexes by sucking face with Dan (Penn Badgley) in their dorm room. Even though Blair left the room, Serena (Blake Lively) happened to catch Dan's walk of shame. Vanessa (Jessica Szohr) and Serena both expressed concern about Dan's "dating" Georgina.

Vanessa had bigger problems, though. Scott (Chris Riggi) was acting weirder than his usual creepy self. He lied about being in class, he's been spending a lot of time with Rufus (Matthew Settle), and recommending classes that he didn't even take or know anything about. Vanessa decided to check up on him at the admissions office, where she found out he is not, nor ever has been, a NYU student. She decided to tell Dan about Scott's lie, which was highly unfortunate due to Georgina's presence. Georgina urged Dan to do some digging of his own to figure out who Scott really is. Dan remembered that Scott was the guy who wrote him a fan letter from his article published in the New Yorker. He tried to call Vanessa to warn her that Scott might be a dangerous stalker. Creepy stalker could be a believable character trait, but not so much on the dangerous side.

When Vanessa later confronted him, Scott finally admitted the truth that everyone in the audience already knew; he is Rufus and Lily's (Kelly Rutherford) love child. Of course, though, Scott wanted Vanessa to keep this a secret from Dan and Rufus until he could tell them. Like in every Gossip Girl episode, there was some large function (this week happened to be an auction) to bring everyone together under one roof. Scott decided he would tell Rufus there.

Scott's mother decided to show up and tell him how supportive she would be of him telling Rufus the truth. Something about her speech made me not believe her. Maybe it was also because last season she told Rufus that his son died. Whether it was his mother's presence, or just the fact that he is a big wuss, Scott decided not to tell Rufus the truth; he told Rufus he was his dead son's brother and that he was going back to Boston. All this left Vanessa with a big secret to keep from her best friend.

The auction also brought together Chuck (Ed Westwick) and Blair. They were both fighting for a similar painting. Blair got a mysterious invitation to join the "La Table Elitaire." In order to be initiated into this secret society, she had to purchase a painting. This painting, however, happened to be the exact same painting that Chuck needed to impress a businessman who might let him buy a restaurant. Chuck and Blair were already on the edge after not having sex for a whole five days, so, tensions arose. They each tried to seduce their way to get the painting, but Serena decided to take matters into her own hands and buy the painting herself to stop Chuck and Blair's demented games. She gave it to Blair, who she then urged to give it to Chuck. Blair proved that maybe she had changed enough to put Chuck's needs over her own. Good thing too, Serena found out that the secret society was just another manipulation of Georgina's. Her good luck "G" gave it away.

Even though Serena was at the auction, she wanted to be with Carter (Sebastian Stan) instead. Carter had been confronted earlier by a girl in the street claiming that she slept with him. Serena then found him unable to pay for all the room service in his hotel. Serena thought she couldn't trust Carter, but in all actuality it played out as a ploy by Chuck and Blair to sabotage Carter's reputation in front of Serena. Serena decided to give Carter another chance, despite Chuck and Blair's best efforts. It really was the most lackluster story line throughout the entire episode. Serena's love life always seems to just go back and forth with whoever her current interest is and its starting to get quite old.

Nate (Chace Crawford) and new girlfriend Bree (Joanna Garcia) were also at the auction, for almost no other reason than for Bree to confront Carter. Apparently he did something really juicy and bad to her family. She insinuated that she would use this information to get back in the good graces of her family and ruin his life along the way. She's been on the outs ever since going public with Nate.

Georgina also learned some information leading to an interesting cliffhanger for next week. She overheard Scott and Vanessa's conversation about the whole love child thing and decided to pack her bags and follow him to Boston. While I know she wants to hurt Blair, I don't see how hurting Dan and his father will help with this process. But, if it gets rid of Georgina for a few episodes it might be okay. Next week's episode will have Tyra Banks and Hilary Duff in it, so there might not be enough room for Georgina's ego anyway.
