Summary:
WWII Online: Readers Choice Edition is a massively multiplayer, persistent world title that combines elements of the first-person shooter, role-playing, strategy, and simulation genres. The Readers Choice Edition upgrades the previously released WWII Online: Blitzkrieg with an updated version of the game and a large foldout battle map. Blitzkrieg features historically accurate locales, vehicles, and characters from WWII, but events are decided by the players' actions as they take on roles as British, French, or German soldiers.

Literally thousands of players can participate on the same battlefield, via a game hosting service through Playnet.com, as they fight on and over 3D European environments designed at one-half scale. Players control their characters from a first-person perspective after choosing from a wide selection of possible roles, ranging from pilots and infantrymen to tank crews and gunboat commander. Successfully completing missions earns promotion in rank and increasingly more influence on the outcome of battles.

WWII Online: Readers Choice Edition requires the installation of the utility "PlayGATE," which authenticates the game version and provides initial communication between the player and game servers. A monthly subscription fee is charged once the initial 30-day free trial period expires.
