She is grateful she has maintained a friendship with ex-husband Chris Robinson - because it makes their son happy.

The couple split in 2006 after six years of marriage and have a four-year-old son, Ryder. After numerous failed relationships with stars including Owen Wilson and Lance Armstrong, she is now living with Robinson and their child in California. And Hudson believes the living arrangements are the best remedy for their son's happiness.

She tells TV host Ellen DeGeneres, "It's such a shame when people let their egos get in the way of what's the most important thing. I feel like a lot of time someone's pride is affected when a relationship ends. For me it feels like this isn't about me or (Chris). We did it the right way, which is we knew it wasn't right (to stay together) so we wanted it to be great for Ryder and we got a happy, happy boy."

She once stalked a man she was desperate to date, and even recruited her friends to help her track the unwitting suitor down.

She confesses she was so obsessed with an unnamed bachelor, she tried to manipulate meetings in the hope he would ask her out.

She doesn't reveal if her tactics worked, but admits, "I did go through this stalker phase. I was completely crazy about this one guy and used to drive by his house and get my friends to call me up if they saw him in a restaurant so I could show up."

She is desperate to work with one of Hollywood's top comedic actresses - her mother Goldie Hawn.

She insists she would love to take a role opposite her
legendary parent - because the duo would get to spend months together promoting the film all over the world.

She tells news show Extra, "Yes. I think that I do really want to work with my mom eventually. I kind of feel like, of course (I want to)! Just to do this (film promotion) together and spend a good year of our lives doing something together. I don't think you get the opportunity to do that very often with your parents. So I think I will work with my mom."

She tells Britain's In Style magazine, "I'm actually enjoying being single right now because I really never have been. I feel good in relationships. I enjoy them, so I feel my best when I'm in something solid. But it's also the first time I've ever taken a step back and gotten a new perspective."

She is laughing off rumors she's embarked on a lesbian affair, insisting she's only interested in men.

Online gossips recently claimed she had been spotted locking lips with a mystery woman in Miami, Florida - sparking allegations the divorced mother-of-one had turned her back on men in favor of the fairer sex. But she is baffled by the reports.

She tells Usmagazine.com, "A girlfriend called me and said, 'Are you making out with girls now?' I was like, 'What are you talking about?' No, no, no. Strictly boys for me!"

She was previously married to Black Crowes rocker Chris Robinson and has enjoyed high-profile romances with Owen Wilson, Dax Shepard and Lance Armstrong.

She is fending off a new romance rumor - after she was photographed frolicking on a beach in Hawaii with Australian golfer Adam Scott.

She sparked rumors of a new beau after she was photographed last week enjoying the surf and sunbathing with Scott at the Kapalua Resort. But a representative for Hudson has dismissed reports the pair is dating.

And Scott is also busy playing down the rumors, telling reporters, "I'm not here with her but I know Kate. We met here (for the first time). We have a mutual friend so we met through him."

The denial comes just one day after her spokesperson brushed off reports she was dating Madonna's alleged former lover, baseball star Alex Rodriguez. She has been romantically linked to stars including cycling champion Lance Armstrong and actor Owen Wilson since her divorce from rocker Chris Robinson in 2007. The former couple has a five-year-old son together, named Ryder.

She is sick of making romantic comedies, and is calling on studio bosses to find her more meaty roles.

She has made her name playing love interests and wives in movies such as You, Me and Dupree, My Best Friend's Girl and current box office release Bride Wars. But she's desperate to try something different, telling Elle magazine, "Do I want darker roles? If course. It has to be right though. I'm not just going to make a movie that's, 'Oh she's a #@$%#$, prostitute and heroin addict.'"

And she blames her predicament on movie goers, adding, "It is very hard to get female-driven movies made. It's hard to get boys into the theater. It's a business. That's just they way it is unfortunate for us ladies. What you need is a high concept; a movie that women want to see that men don't feel like you're twisting their arm to see."

She has cleared her diary for 2009 - because she wants to spend more time with her young son.

She has vowed not to make any more movies this year, because her recent hectic schedule has meant she has had very little time with five-year-old Ryder, from her marriage to rocker Chris Robinson.

She has been promoting her latest offering, Bride Wars, as well as starring in new movie musical Nine. And she is determined that will be last of her work for the rest of the year.

She tells InStyle magazine, "Being a single parent can be difficult, but I don't feel I am one. Chris and I are co-parenting and traveling is where it gets difficult. Chris is on the road and I've had a busy last year, so I am going to take a break in 2009. I want to soak in every little part of who Ryder is."
