Am I the only one who found it a little creepy that he was obsessed with his daughter's friend who is REALLY young and vice versa?  when he unbuttoned her shirt i was cringing!  the end depressed me, but as a movie, it wasn't bad.

It was creepy, yes, but Grim believes that it was a metaphor for his yearning for what was sorely missing in his marriage.

You are most certainly not the only one. My mother hates this movie for that fact. I look at it for the way Grim does - a metahpor. And since there's more than that going on, that helps too. I mainly look at it for the philosophy side.

My top two personal favorite quotes:

~"It was one of those days when it's a minute away from snowing and there's this electricity in the air, you can almost hear it. And this bag was, like, dancing with me. Like a little kid begging me to play with it. For fifteen minutes. And that's the day I knew there was this entire life behind things, and... this incredibly benevolent force, that wanted me to know there was no reason to be afraid, ever. Video's a poor excuse, I know. But it helps me remember... and I need to remember... Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world I feel like I can't take it, like my heart's going to cave in." - Ricky Fitts

I can relate to what Jane says in this one:
~Angela: "Jane, he's a freak!"
Jane: "Then so am I! And we'll always be freaks and we'll never be like other people!"

Other favorites: Everything that Ricky says and when Lester calls his wife a 'bloodless freak'.

This is one of my favorite movies. I love the always present underlying darkness in this movie.  I identify with Spacey's character because I too become so frustrated and restless with everyday mundane life and societal expectations.....Love this movie.
