Yea, sometimes their legs can get pulled off if they get stuck. Or if you drop them, their back ends will split open. It's kind of like dropping an egg on the floor. It's not pretty.

Awwwww man that SUCKS. I'm not wild about spiders, but hell, that's just a nasty way to go. It's like when someone drives over a snake.....

No, it would look silly, like if we all had no hair - the hair has a function - do you know why a tarantula has hair, and why it's so important to them specifically?

For protection against the elements and the sun (UV), for insulation against cold. Less nowadays (according to some we are evolving away from it), it's a left-over from the apes. It extends our sensory range as well, works to keep us clean (nose hairs trap dust), when you are frightened, cold or angry, these small muscles contract, causing your hair to stand on end. Scalp hair also plays an important role in preventing mechanical trauma to the skull. Hair acts as a "dry lubricant" in areas that rub, such as under the arms and in the groin, and serves to disperse pheromones (body secretions that are involved in sexual attraction). Here's a cute wittle spidey for you, Basma....
