Still kicked arse to where? 1970 when they quit? So they were good then but then... when? They QUIT! In that year, btw, we had going at the time: Derek and his Dominos, Si and Garf, Elton, Kinks, CCR, Free, Sabbath, the makings of Floyd and Zep, Alice, Carlos, some Doors, some Supreme Ladies over Motown way [and Gents], James Brown, Bowie finding his way and so on and so forth. My Mammas and Pappas and Janis and Zappa the bastard child coming into his own are all wondering how anyone in their right mind cannot understand that The Stones have been tested, tried and still bringing in the mega-bucks touring. Like the old Blues Cats they started out emulating they will rock until they say they are done. Youngins can mouth whatever they see fit to mouth off about when it comes to these walking legends because at this point none of it matters. The Stones have given their fans a legacy that cannot be matched in duration or relevance.

^Oh please. I mean, back in the day, they were pretty epic, yeah, but nowadays? They're just a bunch of washed up hacks. They aren't in any way relavent anymore, which apparently doesn't matter to you, but what's the point of even being around if nobody cares anymore. The only times you hear about them is when they played the Super Bowl and when Richards fell out of the tree. As for your "They QUIT!" comment: that's exactly what the Stones should do. And besides, it was all Yoko's fault, anyway.

LONG LIVE MOON THE LOON. Interviewer: "...now could you really tell us the truth and stop lying?" Keith Moon: "Oh, no. I mean, the truth as you wanna hear it? I can't do that. You couldn't afford me."

^ Oh come now...You know you want to join the throng of Beatles devotees deep, deep down, fellow scholar. Simply relinquish free will ala Invasion Of The Body Snatchers and prostrate at The Fab Four altar;Grim assures you it'll be painless and may,in fact, prove cathartic.

The Beatles where, and remain, fan-f**king-tabulous. I am not an idiot afterall. However, the Stones have brought it to new levels just by proving a blues-based-rock-n-roll band can transcend personal habits, musical differences and naysayers the world over by rocking clear into their 60's and still doing a damn fine job about it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qv9nhWxYG84

You certainly present a compelling case for The Stones, but Grim will continue to chip away at your presently steely resolve until you succumb. The fact that that may NEVER happen is irrelevant;the thrill's in the chase-or in this case, indoctrination.
Oh No! I have dropped myself in it this time haven't I? Just please, no hynotizing! ...ahem, Stones.

The Stones are good, but I just don't see them having as much influence on music history as the Beatles did. And while it may be impressive that the Stones are still making music at their age, it is just as impressive, if not more so, that, even with their much shorter time in th music scene, the Beatles still remain more popular and are typically held in higher regard than the Stones. So, Beatles for me.
