 She took tips from Renee Zellweger in a bid to perfect her role in hit TV show Ugly Betty. The 23-year-old reveals she was inspired by Zellweger's curvaceous character Bridget Jones in movie Bridget Jones' Diary. She says, "Bridget Jones was absolutely something that popped into my head when I first read the script. I just love her openness." |

She took top honors Sunday at the 2008 ALMA Awards, which recognize achievements by Hispanic artists. The ABC comedy series won awards for directing and best performance by a Latino-led ensemble cast. She was named Chevy Entertainer of the Year for her on-screen work as Betty Suarez in "Ugly Betty" and her off-screen efforts to encourage young people to get involved in the political process. |

She almost flashed the entire audience at the Emmy Awards after a wardrobe malfunction left her feeling exposed. Her' designer gown fell apart as she sat waiting to take the stage to present an award with her TV show co-star Vanessa Williams at last month's glitzy ceremony. She explains, "I was sitting in my seat and they (planners) come out and get you when it's your turn to go backstage. I was wearing this dress with a bustle underneath to make it fluffy. I stood up and it just slipped out from me, the whole skirt. I thought, 'Oh my God, I'm naked underneath.' I ran backstage and asked an intern for a safety pin." But two fellow actresses came to the rescue: "I then ran into the women's dressing room, and this woman said, 'Can I help you?' I looked up and it's Julia Louis Dreyfus. And then Catherine Keener came along and the intern came back with a safety pin. So I'm standing at a mirror and Catherine Keener and Julia Louis Dreyfus are at my butt with a safety pin. I made it onstage and no one was the wiser." |

She hates shopping so much she is "afraid" of buying her own clothes. She is surrounded by the world of fashion while filming her role in the hit series, about fictional New York style magazine Mode. She plays style-blind employee Betty and, like her character, she can't stand visits to the shops. She says, "I'm the total antithesis of a shopaholic, I really am. I'm afraid of shopping. I don't like to shop. I don't like being in stores... I've never enjoyed shopping since I was young. It's just not something that I like to do." |
