Her parents have spoken out about the incident which led to a police arrest on Monday morning, insisting the matter has been "completely blown out of proportion."

Her father, Alan, was arrested on suspicion of felony spousal abuse on Monday, after allegedly striking his wife, Lesley, three times. But the Panettieres have now appeared on TV in an effort to clear up what they call a huge mix up.

The couple tells TV news show Extra, "It was all a big misunderstanding. Nothing actually happened." A spokesman for the couple tells the show, "They love each other very much and want everyone to know that the matter was completely blown out of proportion."

Reports suggest Lesley Panettiere called police after a fight with her husband turned violent. The incident is said to have followed a fight at actress Eva Longoria's Los Angeles restaurant Beso late on Sunday night.

Alan Panettiere, a fire department official, was released from jail on $50,000 bail on Monday.

She has been given the all-clear to return to Japan after an arrest warrant was issued for her following an anti-whaling protest there last year.

Last November, she joined animal rights activists in a protest against the slaughtering of dolphins in the historic whaling town of Taiji, Japan prompting local authorities to issue a warrant for her arrest. However, Japanese Foreign Minister Masahiko Komura has personally welcomed the actress back to the country, telling her she has nothing to fear.

She tells HollyScoop.com, "I think they did it (issue an arrest warrant) to pretty much scare us from coming back. I went and had a meeting with the Foreign Minister and he said I was welcome anytime. Very kind man. Very welcoming, and he said I was his most welcome guest, so there's a shocker."

And the actress cannot wait to return: "The culture is such that it's one of the kindest, most polite, most welcoming cultures you can ever run across."

She's not giving a true accounting of the whole culture if that's what she thinks. Just look at what Japan did to SIngapore during the war, to millions of innocent people! Shame on them!!!

She gracefully showed off her pint-sized figure in a strapless number on August 10, when she hosted the Whaleman Foundation Benefit held at Beso Restaurant (owned by Eva Longoria-Parker) in Los Angeles.

She has broken her silence about the alleged domestic incident which led to her father's arrest earlier this month.

Her father, Alan, was held on suspicion of felony spousal abuse on August 11th, after allegedly striking his wife, Lesley, three times. The couple appeared on TV following the incident, in an effort to clear up what they called "a big misunderstanding". She is now echoing her parents' claims, insisting Los Angeles authorities exaggerated the incident.

She tells the TV news show Extra: "It was blown way out of proportion by a sheriff who wanted his 15 minutes of fame. My family is wonderful, so very happy. We're all great."

Reports suggest Lesley Panettiere called police after a fight with her husband. The incident is said to have followed a fight at actress Eva Longoria Parker's Los Angeles restaurant Beso late at night on Sunday August 10th.

Alan Panettiere, a fire department official, was released from jail on $50,000 bail on Monday August 11th.

She has praised celebrities for getting involved in the upcoming U.S. presidential election - insisting their influence has brought politics to a new generation.

America goes to the polls on Tuesday to decide whether Republican John McCain or Democrat Barack Obama will take the White House. The campaign has been littered with celebrity endorsements, with stars including Sean 'Diddy' Combs, Jay-Z, Matt Damon and Scarlett Johansson all encouraging young people to cast their votes. And she is convinced that all of the extra publicity has been a great help to both candidates.

She says, "One of the major reasons why, especially young people, have come out and done so much to play a part in this election - and who are really getting out there and voting this time around - is because of the celebrity endorsements, because of how popular this election has become, and how much in the news, and how much it's taken over, you know, our society."

She was kicked out of a New York State nightclub last month, and called the cops when bouncers refused to return her ID.

She was spotted in the crowd at the 21-plus venue in Suffern and when security staff questioned her, they discovered she was underage and ejected her.

However, TMZ alleges she was furious when the bouncer refused to return her ID and called police - who reportedly arrived on the scene and negotiated the return of her prized card.

She reportedly lost her cool at a fundraiser gala in Hawaii at the weekend - blasting a reporter for touching her shoulder.

She allegedly screamed "back up" to photographers as she was walking the red carpet at a charity event on Sunday.

She then barked "Don't you ever touch me" to a reporter who had tapped her on the shoulder to ask for an interview, before telling the onlooking press, "You all make my life miserable", according to Us Weekly magazine.

She has had previous run-ins with the media - she had a spat with a Us Weekly reporter in July after the publication ran a story about her split with Stephen Colletti.

She has downplayed reports she lashed out at a journalist in Hawaii last week, insisting the story has been blown out of proportion.

She was said to have erupted angrily after a reporter tapped her shoulder at a fundraiser gala on Sunday, barking at on looking press, "You all make my life miserable." But she is adamant she maintains a good relationship with journalists.

She tells OK! Magazine "I have tremendous respect for the media and reporters - particularly the press who treat the people they are interviewing with dignity. I am appreciative that the press has supported me, my career, and especially the causes I feel passionately about."

And she insists stories about the alleged outburst have been greatly exaggerated: "While in Hawaii, one reporter grabbed me suddenly from behind and frightened me. It happens. Typically, the press has treated me with great respect."

She has dismissed reports her recent split from co-star Milo Ventimiglia is causing tension on the set of their hit TV show.

The actors met when they both landed roles in Heroes, overcoming their 12-year age gap to embark on a romance.

The relationship ended last month and she has been dogged by speculation about her onset antics - with many internet gossips claiming she refused to work with Ventimiglia, 31.

But she has denied the claims, insisting the former couple is still on friendly terms.

She tells OK! magazine, "Milo and I are very close. We have enjoyed and continue to enjoy working together."

Series creator Tim Kring has also assured fans that neither Panettiere nor Ventimiglia will be leaving the show without his approval, adding: "The final decision about which characters live and die on Heroes rests with me."

She is about to send her lusty fans into overdrive after revealing she's totally naked in her new film.

She insists there were no body doubles used or tan body stockings in place on the set of I Love You Beth Cooper - that's all her on the big screen.

She tells Eonline.com, "I was really naked. I had these little sticky petals on my boobs, but that was about it."

And she insists her parents will have no trouble with her naked scenes in the coming-of-age movie, which opens on 10 July: "My dad calls me such an exhibitionist. He always says, 'God, even when you were little, you were such an exhibitionist!'"

But she won't be showing off absolutely everything just yet.

She adds, "I'm cool with my body, and I'm cool running around undressed and all that stuff, but there are just certain things that not everyone needs to know, that you need to keep somehow private and personal to you. But you never know... I could be 30 years old and just be like, 'Screw it, I want to take it all off. I better take a picture of this baby before it all goes."
