For a "LIVE" show i think performers should have to give a live performance. Faking it on SNL is like lip syncing at your own concert... I am sure that if she had any fans that went to the taping, they would have been bummed..

They taped the cheers from her fans to play after she finished her songs. Only had to play it once though, after her first song, being as "her band" screwed up the second song. They were going to play a laugh track when she walked off, but they cut to commercial and weren't able to find a laugh track since the show is LIVE.
I have a feeling that her 'band' is going to go back to being studio musicians until they find some other cheese to back up. I'd be like, "I'm outta here Jessica, Mindy,whatever-your-name-is.

I dont know, i heard that 60 Minutes (the TV show) was doing a documentary that night on SNL and they corroborate the laryngitis story... so if she really did have laryngitis what was Ashlee supposed to do...?
A - Do a live performance with laryngitis, and sound even worse than usual?
B - Cancel the gig and re schedule, (not likely)
C - Listen to her manager and do some lipsyncing... (obvious choice)
What would you have done?

I've seen Ashlee perform on two separate shows, and she clearly did not lip sync on either of them. She sounded great both times. That was actually how I started liking her music, because I felt she really could sing. I don't think it's right that she doesn't sing live on Saturday Night LIVE--that was a pretty big screw up--but I really do think she can sing.
Milli Vanilli...no. Not even close. She wasn't lip synching someone else's voice...
And what about Brittney Spears? I've seen that girl perform on t.v. probably eight different times, and every time it is obvious she is lip synching. But people still love her.
