She has apologized to fans for forgetting lyrics during a show in Michigan on Thursday night.

She left fans stunned when she stumbled through her performance at the Van Andel Arena in Great Rapids, mumbling her lyrics, forgetting words and fighting back tears during a 38-minute set, supporting country trio Rascal Flatts.

According to one local concert reviewer, She stopped the show at one point and asked her band to start a song again.

She apologized onstage, by mouthing the word "sorry" to fans, and on Friday, her publicist declared she just had "an off night". Her rep says, "She's a perfectionist and wanted to start some songs over."

The concert comes as her apparent weight gain makes headlines in the tabloids, after she was photographed looking bigger at a recent show.

It's not the first time critics have targeted her for her forgetful nature onstage - she was ridiculed after botching Dolly Parton's "9 To 5" hit during a tribute to the country legend at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. in December, 2006.

She is determined to create a new line of dresses aimed at women of "every figure" - insisting she knows how to help "curvy" girls.


She hit the headlines recently after she was pictured looking notably heavier on-stage at a concert in Florida last month. The photos prompted criticism for her weight gain - with the star's sister Ashlee branding the media attention "embarrassing and belittling" in an angry rant on her blog. And now Simpson - who owns her own self-named fashion brand - has spoken out about the pressure facing women to remain thin.

In an interview in the latest issue of In Style magazine, She reveals her fashion plans. She says, "I want to create clothes that flatter every figure. I know how a dress can make you feel so frumpy. We want to reach every type of person. I know what flatters a woman, and trust me, I've been judged a lot in my life. By now I know what works if you're curvy."

She has issued a plea to women suffering domestic abuse - urging them to leave their violent partners and build new lives for themselves.

She penned a song for her latest album, titled Remember That, about her own experiences with violence in the home, but refused to confirm any details about how she was affected by abuse. Simpson has previously spoken out about the subject, hinting that she had suffered at the hands of a former lover. And she broached the topic once more during her performance at New York's Madison Square Garden on Thursday night.

She reportedly told the crowd, "To any woman out there who is in an abusive relationship, let me tell you that each and every single woman, you can take your heart and run so far away and fall in love again, and that's the reason I recorded this song called Remember That."

She chose a particularly poignant time to air her views on the subject, just days after the alleged fight between R&B singer Chris Brown and his girlfriend Rihanna. The Kiss Kiss hit-maker was charged with making criminal threats after turning himself into Los Angeles police on Sunday night. The accusation stems from an early morning fracas which left an unnamed woman, said to be Rihanna, needing medical attention for head wounds.

She is so scared of splitting her pants and flashing the crowd during concerts, she has started wearing special accident-proof stage clothes. The singer debuted her new split-proof pants - a cross between a skirt and shorts - during a concert at New York City's Madison Square Garden on Thursday night.

She explained the style choice to fans, saying, "I've had times when my pants split right down the middle when I bent down to reach a note. That's why I'm wearing a skort - not a skirt, not a short - just so they wouldn't split."

She recently hit back at recent tabloid claims she has piled on the pounds, insisting her weight is "right where (it's) supposed to be".

She was left red-faced at a concert in California on Saturday when she messed up the opening lyrics to two of her songs.

She played her final gig as the support act on Rascal Flatts' Bob Your Head Tour in Irvine this weekend, but her last show was dogged by mishaps as she forgot the lines to Remember That and Still Don't Stop Me.

After getting the lyrics mixed up for Remember That, a track about being in an abusive relationship, she told the crowd, "Oops! I said whiskey too early! I messed up! I'm so embarrassed! But I'm starting over again because I really want you guys to hear the lyrics the right way."

And she nervously giggled when she got the lines wrong during Still Don't Stop Me, before saying: "I messed up again! I do this all the time!"

Her dad Joe has dismissed reports he's urging his pop star daughter to dump football player Tony Romo - insisting the sportsman is "the best."

Earlier this month, the National Enquirer alleged that her father disapproved of her relationship with Romo, citing the sportsman's influence over the singer as a cause for concern.

A source told the tabloid, "Joe now feels that Tony has become too much of a distraction for her. Any free time she has, She wants to spend with Tony. But rather than blaming his daughter's work ethic, Joe points the finger at Tony. He wants Tony out of her life, but she loves him and won't even consider leaving him at this point."

However Joe Simpson has laughed off the report, insisting Romo is the "best" boyfriend his daughter could have. In a post on social networking site Twitter.com, She writes, "So tired of people saying I don't like Jess and Tony... He is the best... Don't believe the National Enquirer!!!"

She who was previously married to singer Nick Lachey, has been dating Romo since November 2007.

She has no regrets over her reality TV show Newlyweds: Nick And she insisting the doomed program is not to blame for her divorce from husband and co-star Nick Lachey.

The couple put their love and arguments on display for all to see when they signed up for the MTV show in 2003, which documented their life as husband and wife. The show aired for four seasons and wrapped in early 2005 - just months before the singers split.

However she is refusing to blame the invasive show for contributing to her and Lachey's divorce, insisting she only has fond memories of her time on the small screen.

She tells the June issue of Vanity Fair magazine, "In all honesty, I believe it did not affect our marriage because we enjoyed watching those episodes, and that will always be a time I cherish. It made me understand what marriage is, what love is, what commitment is." And she reveals her new beau, football player Tony Romo, was also a fan of the series: "(He's seen) a couple episodes. He thought I was cute."

PETA bosses have taken aim at her over her plans to perform at SeaWorld in San Diego, California this weekend.

People for The Ethical Treatment of Animals' special projects manager Michelle Cho has written a stern note to her and her manager/father Joe, asking them to consider pulling the concert in protest about the dolphins kept in captivity at the tourist hotspot.

In the letter, obtained exclusively by WENN, Cho writes, "As someone who is used to living in a fishbowl and having the public weigh in on her every move, you might like to give some thought to the animals who are forced to be 'on display' their entire lives. Imagine being forced to do stupid tricks and swim endless circles in a bathtub. Life for whales, dolphins, polar bears, and fish who live in tanks and cages is like a bad reality show that plays 24/7. There are no commercial breaks, and the show is never cancelled.

"In 2004, the stress of performing at SeaWorld proved to be too much for one orca (whale) named Ky. After becoming agitated during a show, Ky attacked and repeatedly slammed his trainer underwater as a packed crowd looked on in horror. SeaWorld, which owns most of the captive orcas and dolphins in the U.S., has one of the worst animal-care records in the country. Countless animals have lived and died in misery in these marine theme parks.

"We're asking you to support the dolphins. Please reconsider your decision to perform at SeaWorld and promise not to appear at venues that exploit animals in the future."

She was left lost for words again onstage in California on Friday night when she forgot the lyrics to her song Remember That.

She famously flubbed her Dolly Parton tribute song at the Kennedy Center Honors in Washington, D.C. in 2006 and then twice this year forgot the words to the same song she mangled on Friday.

She tried to play down the gaffe with humor, telling the California audience, "I always forget this," adding "I didn't write it". The singer then joked, "It just comes with the whole her thing."

She "messed up" the same at a concert back in March, and told fans, "I'm so embarrassed! I'm starting over again because I really want you guys to hear the lyrics the right way."

She will be turning the tables on our culture and cultures all over the world to find "The Price of Beauty," her new original series on VH1.

The new VH1 docu-series takes her all over the world to meet every day women. She may also discover some local pop culture icons on their own quests for beauty along the way. She will study the local fashions, dietary fads and beauty regimes and even participate in some of the extreme practices she discovers.

She stated: "I have always believed that beauty comes from within and confidence will always make a woman beautiful, but I know how much pressure some women put on themselves to look perfect. I am really looking forward to discovering how beauty is perceived in different cultures and participating in some of the crazy things people do to feel beautiful. I know we will all learn a lot on this journey and I am so excited that VH1 is coming along on what I'm sure will be a wild ride."

The Price of Beauty is set to begin shooting in mid July. Executive Producers include her and Joe Simpson. It is set to air in 2010.
