Former Weezer star Mikey Welsh was found dead in his Illinois hotel room on Saturday.

Welsh was set to check out of the Raffaello Hotel in Chicago, but when the 40 year old failed to, staff members entered his room to find him unconscious and not breathing, according to the Associated Press.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office performed an autopsy on Sunday. The cause of death is pending toxicology tests. Police spokesperson Laura Kubiak has confirmed there is nothing to indicate foul play.

Welsh performed with rock band Weezer as the group's bassist from 1998 until 2001 but left after suffering a nervous breakdown.

The rocker later found success as an artist and painter.
