Rob Lowe will play President John F. Kennedy in National Geographic Channel's upcoming two-hour original drama "Killing Kennedy."

The network just released an image of Lowe on the set of the film, which started production yesterday in Richmond, Va.

Ginnifer Goodwin ("Once Upon A Time") plays first lady Jacqueline Kennedy. Michelle Trachtenberg ("Gossip Girl") stars in her first Russian-speaking role as Marina Oswald, and Will Rothhaar portrays Lee Harvey Oswald.

The film, based on the best-selling book of the same name, chronicles one of the most shocking events in American history, following two men from very different backgrounds on a collision course with fate.

Kennedy was the 35th President of the United States. He was assassinated in Dallas, Texas, on Nov. 22, 1963.

"Killing Kennedy" will air in November on Nat Geo.
