After picking up nine nominations, Kevin Spacey's Netflix series "House Of Cards" will be a big contender at the 2013 Primetime Emmy Awards. The political thriller was recognized in the Outstanding Drama Series category and picked up dramatic acting nominations for its leads, Spacey and Robin Wright. It received a total of nine nominations.

The Netflix series will be facing stiff competition from last year's big winners "Homeland" and "Breaking Bad" as well as "Mad Men", "Game of Thrones" and "Downton Abbey."

In the lead actor category, Spacey will face off against "Homeland's" Damian Lewis, "Breaking Bad's" Bryan Cranston, "Downton Abbey's" Hugh Bonneville, "The Newsroom" star Jeff Daniels, and "Mad Men's" Jon Hamm.

Wright will be pitted against Connie Britton ("Nashville"), Claire Danes ("Homeland"), Vera Farmiga ("Bates Motel"), Elisabeth Moss ("Mad Men"), and Kerry Washington ("Scandal") for the Lead Actress in a Drama prize.

"The Big Bang Theory," "Girls," "Louie," "Modern Family," "30 Rock" and "Veep" will vie for Outstanding Comedy Series. Lead acting nominees in the comedy series category include Matt LeBlanc ("Episodes") Louis C.K. ("Louie"),  Jason Bateman ("Arrested Development"), Edie Falco ("Nurse Jackie"), Lena Dunham ("Girls") and Laura Dern for ("Enlightened").

FX miniseries "American Horror Story: Asylum," entered in the movies and miniseries category, received the most nominations: 17. Michael Douglas will go head to head with his "Behind the Candelabra" co-star Matt Damon for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie category for his Liberace biopic, while Al Pacino landed a nod in the same category for his title role in "Phil Spector."
Helen Mirren ("Phil Spector") is nominated alongside Sigourney Weaver ("Political Animals") and Jessica Lange ("American Horror Story: Asylum") for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie.
