Ellen DeGeneres Pushes For 'Bridesmaids' Sequel, Role
Ellen DeGeneres is angling for a role in "Bridesmaids 2," even though plans for a sequel have not been greenlit.
The actress and daytime talk show star is hosting the upcoming Oscars and worked with director Paul Feig to promote the awards show. She’s hoping their collaboration will lead to a part in a sequel to the comedy.
DeGeneres, 55, released a video on Thursday for the Academy Awards and at one point declares: "Two plus two: great Oscar promo, `Bridesmaids 2,' cha-ching!"
“Bridesmaids” was a huge success when it was released in 2011, but the director hasn’t announced that he’s making a sequel and the stars haven’t committed to the potential project.
The film centers on Annie (Kristin Wiig), who finds her life turned completely upside down when she takes on the maid of honor role in her best friend Lillian's wedding. Annie leads a hodgepodge of bridesmaids on a wild ride down the road to the big event.
Feig, meanwhile, recently directed the highly successful “The Heat,” starring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy.
The 86th annual Academy Awards will air live on ABC Sunday, March 2, 2014.
