You'll most likely never want to ride in an elevator again after you see this elevator security cam footage.
The malfunction happened in Chile, where Jose Vergara Acevedo steps into the elevator picks a floor, and the elevator doors close as normal.
It all starts to go south when the elevator takes off, past Jose's floor. Jose struggles to get the elevator to stop, which opens the lift doors. He's still rocketing upwards at around 50 miles per hour.
The elevator only stopped after it crashed into the roof, which caused injury to Mr. Acevedo. He is stable, and suffered a head and a leg injury.
The elevator rocketed past 31 stories in about 15 seconds. It's amazing that no one was killed.
