Eddie Murphy has gotten divorced. The Shrek star and wife Nicole Murphy finalized the split on Monday, ending 12 years of marriage. She filed for divorce last August citing "irreconcilable differences". Court papers reveal the actor will pay child support to the 37-year-old former model, with whom he has five children between the ages of three and 15. He will also get joint custody.

A spokesman for Murphy - who is best known for his role as wise-cracking cop, Axel Foley, in the 1984 movie, Beverly Hills Cop - Paul Bloch, said: "The welfare of our children is our main concern and their best interest is our first priority."

In the 90s, the actor was cursed by a string of flop movies including Vampire In Brooklyn, The Adventures Of Pluto Nash and Holy Man, however, his fortunes turned around when he voiced Donkey in the critically acclaimed and highly successful Shrek films.
