Ed Sheeran has something to be happy about this morning. His second album, X, is the U.K.'s fastest-selling album of 2014 so far.

X debuted at the top of the British album charts, with fans purchasing 182,000 copies of the disc. Sales of X toppled Coldplay's Ghost Stories, which sold 168,000 copies during its first week of release in May.

Sheeran was thrilled by the news, writing on Twitter: "182k sold in the UK week one making it the fastest selling album of the year. I'm on cloud 9 and keep laughing at everything. Love you all."

Coming in second on the albums chart was Sam Smith's The Lonely Hour, followed by Lana Del Rey's Ultraviolence, Ghost Stories and Paolo Nutini's Caustic Love.

Sheeran's second studio album, "X," was released on June 23.
