The Flick: "The Haunting of Helena" – a title that should have been changed – is an engaging little thriller that does go off the rails at times.  Meaning there’s fascinating ghost story element to the film to do with a bitter old female spirit out to reclaim her missing teeth that keeps this one interesting.  Though the film also gets seriously bogged down with too much overt tone and minutia that’s frankly unneeded.  This one is like a memorable and creepy bedtime story that goes on a little too long.

Best Feature: The solely visual featurette 'Special Effects Breakdown' shows an encapsulated version of the impressive effects that do add good scares to the flick.

Best Hidden Gem: The equally beautiful and creepy apparition played by Susanna Cornacchia gives modern monsters a run for their money.

Worth the Moola: A decent enough terror tale if you don’t mind the occasional unneeded aside.
