Title: "Sparks: The Origin of Ian Sparks"

   Grade: 2 1/2

Cast: Chase Williamson, Ashley Bell, Clancy Brown

Director: Christopher Folino and Todd Burrows

   Rating: Not Rated

   Runtime: 98 minutes

   Release Company: RLJ Home Entertainment

The Flick: "Sparks" is a film I wanted to love, but only just liked.  On the good side there’s "Highlander" alum Clancy Brown taking on the Sean Connery Ramirez role as Sparks mentor and trainer, a standout turn by "The Last Exorcism" gal Ashley Bell here playing a fetching bad guy fighting superwoman Lady Heavenly (hubba, hubba!) and the film has a ton of stylistic visuals.  Down side is lead man Chase Williamson gets tired really fast and he’s not helped by a story that’s trying to fit way too much into it’s ninety-eight minute run time.

Best Feature: The 'Making Of' is a fascinating watch especially when it comes to stuff to do with "Greatest American Hero" William Katt who was originally going to play the Brown role.

Best Hidden Gem: Ashley Bell is both hot and tough in a role that puts her on par with Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow.

Worth the Moola: Some good, some bad, but worth renting.
