Dennis Quaid is set to star in a TV series for the first time in four decades.
The actor has focused on films since a guest stint in the 1970s cop show Baretta, but he is now taking the lead in Vegas, playing real-life sheriff Ralph Lamb who goes up against mafia bosses.
Quaid insists he is excited to move away from the big screen and get involved in the TV drama, which is set in the 1960s.
He says, "A lot of exciting things are happening now on television. A lot of the best writers are working in television. Vegas seemed really authentic and a chance to play a character and let him unfold over a long period of time."
He's also looking forward to the chance to play a character for more than the few hours the big screen offers. "It's just a different challenge, really, with this,"
