After a killer kick off and week two’s struggles with the quickstep and jive, the stars gathered to find out who would be the first in the competition to go home. What a night! And I would say one of the most nerve-wracking. Especially since one of the contestants would be eliminated without having the opportunity to prove what they really could do on the dance floor.

However Sugarland helped ease the tension with their country tunes; and one by one contestants were told if they would be safe or placed in the bottom. The scores going into the elimination were the following in ranking order:

1. Katherine Jenkins & Mark Ballas- 52
2. Roshon Fegan & Chelsie Hightower- 49
2. William Levy & Cheryl Burke- 49
4. Jaleel White & Kym Johnson- 48
5. Maria Menounos & Derek Hough- 46
5. Sherri Shepherd & Val Chmerkovskiy- 46
7. Donald Driver & Peta Murgatroyd- 45
8. Jack Wagner & Anna Trebunskaya- 44
9. Gladys Knight & Tristan McManus - 42
10. Gavin DeGraw & Karina Smirnoff- 41
11. Melissa Gilbert & Maks Chmerkovskiy- 40
12. Martina Navratilova & Tony Dovolani- 37

The eliminations started off with Melissa, Gladys and Martina being called to the front, and out of the three, Martina was placed in the bottom. Honestly, I wasn’t surprised about Martina's placement. The tennis star’s performances weren’t the best, and I had a feeling that she would end up in the bottom and even be the one to be sent home.

Next Jaleel, Roshon and William were called up, and this bottom placement was a little shocking to me. Out of the three, Roshon, who had two amazing performances and was ranked by the judges as number two, was surprisingly placed in the bottom. But, I'm guessing since he is the least popular out of the two, that it would be expected for him to be in the bottom? Just an assumption, but based on the performances, I would say it should have been Jaleel.

The third group to be judged was Katherine, Sherri and Maria. While up Maria confirmed that she suffered two broken ribs after practicing for the show. But considering the injury, the television show host looked great; and was given the good news that her and the other two ladies were safe.

Afterward Donald, Gavin, and Jack were called to the stage, and Gavin was placed in the bottom three. This was a no brainer considering that the pop star had some of the lowest scores in the competition.

So, who went home? Martina Navratilova

Surprising? Not really. Martina struggled in week one, and her performance in week two was even worse. The tennis champion said the following when she found out that she had been eliminated:

“It was an amazing experience. I just wish it had lasted longer. I gave it everything I had, but I blew it yesterday and it cost me.”

It was sad to see her go, but the show must go on! I guess we'll have to look out for her on the red carpet, to see her wear a dress again. See you next week!
