Kanye West was named the favorite Male Hip-hop Artist, while the female equivalent went to Nicki Minaj. Will Smith's daughter Willow lost out on the Best New Artist award to Wiz Khalifa, but did manage to take home the Young Stars award, along with her brother Jaden.
In the acting stakes, Best Actor went to Idris Elba, while Oscar-nominated star Taraji P. Henson was named Best Actress. The Best Movie prize went to For Colored Girls.
The event in L.A. was hosted by Kevin Hart and a special award was given to Patti LaBelle, who was presented with the honor by Gladys Knight.
