He has captivating eyes, a killer body, and a sweet, romantic streak – plus he can dance, cook, and give a great massage! In this week's special double issue, prepare to be mesmerized by PEOPLE Magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive" 2012, Channing Tatum. The 32-year-old actor sat down with PEOPLE and quickly proved how much substance there is behind his piercing green eyes and beyond that chiseled body he bared as a stripper in Magic Mike (inspired by experiences in his younger days). The Alabama-bred star reveals he's a sculptor and a romantic who loves giving massages to his wife, actress Jenna Dewan-Tatum (he gets foot rubs in return). Although Jenna has adjusted to being married to 2012's "Sexiest Man Alive," the actor still can't fathom it. "She calls me that now," he says. "But I can't even say the words!"

Tatum is also a sculptor who quotes Edgar Allan Poe and can't wait to start their family. "I'm ready; I think she's ready," he says. "The first number that pops into my head is three, but I just want one to be healthy and then we'll see where we go after that." "It's really easy for us guys to say, 'I want like 15 kids,'" he continues. "Jenna will be like, 'Well you better get another wife!'"

Currently training to play an Olympic athlete in next year's Foxcatcher, Tatum is all heart and muscle at 195 pounds. "I like to be lean. If I get too bulky I can't move well and I like to move," he says. "When I'm not training, I get really round and soft." Which is just fine by his wife. " People know him to be fun and sexy, but they don't know how emotionally deep and spiritually open he is," says Dewan-Tatum, 31. "He is such an open-hearted person; what you see is what you get."

PEOPLE's 2005 Sexiest Man Alive and Magic Mike co-star, Matthew McConaughey, jokes, "It's probable that he won't return my calls after he wins this award. His ego is going to detonate to mythic proportions." In addition to Tatum, PEOPLE marks the 27th edition of the iconic "Sexiest Man Alive" franchise with Magic Mikes, featuring five famous Michaels – Strahan, Buble, Weatherly, Ealy, and Bolton – who replay scenes from Tatum's hit summer film and reveal what brings out their boom-chicka-boom sides. "I work out five to six times a week," says Strahan, 41. "I get manicures, pedicures, facials, massages. I do it all." The co-host of Live with Kelly and Michael adds, "But I won't get waxed – that looks like it hurts."

James Van Der Beek, star of ABC's Don't Trust the B---- in Apt 23, writes a guide to what is sexy and what isn't in his column, "If I Were the Sexiest Man Alive." "To enforce my new sexy guidelines," Van Der Beek writes, "I'll employ a massive brigade of sexy police. Not only will they be sexy police, but they will be policing sexy…These brave men and women will take to the streets, asking you to replace those pleated khakis with flat fronts, untuck those shirts from your jeans, and shave any unwarranted facial (or back) hair," adding, "And you will gladly comply, because it's patriotic. Remember, if we're not sexy, the terrorists win."

Fifty salt-and-pepper and silver-haired foxes sizzle with style in 50 Shades of Grey, including these handsome celebs with some snow on the roof: Anderson Cooper, John Slattery, Tim Robbins, Craig Ferguson, and Jon Stewart, with several from the political arena: Barack Obama, Andrew Cuomo, Mitt Romney, Joe Scarborough, Rahm Emanuel, and Bill Clinton.

Newbies to PEOPLE's "Sexiest Man Alive" issue include the "Guys from Girls," the hit HBO show starring Lena Dunham. These three men – Alex Karpovsky, Andrew Rannells, and Adam Driver -- explain the strange side effects of starring on TV's raunchiest show. "A lot of guys feel the need to proclaim their sexuality to me," says Driver, 29. "They say, 'I'm straight, I'm 40, and I watch the show.' I'm like, 'Okay, great.'"
