George W. Davis Biography:
Trained in art and design at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, George W. Davis was signed by 20th Century Fox in the mid-'40s. Davis remained with Fox as a set designer until 1959, winning Academy awards for The Robe (1953) and The Diary of Anne Frank (1959). He moved to MGM upon the retirement of Cedric Gibbons. As MGM curtailed its feature-film activity in the 1960s, George W. Davis kept busy with the studio's television output, working on such series as Dr. Kildare, The Twilight Zone, and The Man From U.N.C.L.E. Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
