Corky Ballas Biography:
The child of a flamenco dancer mother and an inventor father, professional dancer Corky Ballas honed and sustained a serious interest in dancing from the tender age of six and worked his way up to a professional level, undergoing years of rigorous training that catapulted him to a position as the United States' International Latin Dancing champion at age 22. He subsequently moved to England and engaged in 16 years of additional training, gleaning a litany of laurels and honors throughout Europe. In successive years, Ballas enjoyed secondary careers as a choreographer and a dance instructor to couples around the world. In terms of filmed work, Ballas hosted several dance-themed instructional video series, including Learn to Dance with the Champions and International Latin-Style Syllabus. He gained renewed attention courtesy of his involvement in Season 7 of the hit ABC reality series Dancing with the Stars (ca. 2008), where he performed alongside Oscar-winning actress Cloris Leachman (The Last Picture Show).
