The actor is taking the place of the British star less than three weeks after Law dropped out, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Director Lynne Ramsey quit over creative differences, and Law followed suit. Last month, Ramsay was a no show during the first day of filming in Santa Fe, New Mexico, leaving producers scrambling to find a replacement. Filmmaker Gavin O'Connor is now directing the project.
Cooper, who will play a villain in the film, is currently filming an untitled David O. Russell movie and is expected to film his "Jane Got A Gun" shots in the future.
The film centers on a woman forced to defend her farm after her outlaw husband is seriously injured in a shoot-out.
Cooper recently appeared in "Silver Linings Playbook" and the newly released "Place Beyond The Pines." He stars in the upcoming "Hangover III."
