Actor Kevin McCarthy, best known for his role in 1956's 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' and Oscar-nominated for 'Death of a Salesman' in 1952, has died at age 96, of natural causes.

McCarthy maintained film credits all the way up to 2010, most recently with short films.

Known for his chiseled jaw and for playing everyman parts, McCarthy will be forever remembered for playing Dr. Miles Bennell in the sci-fi classic 'Body Snatchers,' which sparked a flurry of rip-off B movies.

He is also well-known for a memorable guest spot on the original 'Twilight Zone' in the episode 'Long Live Walter Jameson' from the first season.  He played a history professor whose account of historical events seemed so vivid, it was believed he was immortal.  He also made an appearance in the 1983 movie verson of 'Twilight Zone' and followed up with guest parts on 'The Golden Girls' and 'Murder, She Wrote.'  Some may remember him as Weird Al's unhinged network boss in 'UHF.'
