The Flick: Let’s face it – there have been a TON of Musketeer flicks over the years.  So how does Paul “Aliens vs. Predator” Anderson fare in the swashbuckling arena?  It’s a mixed musketeer bag.  On the down side Anderson’s staging and style of the period does leave a lot to be desired, especially with his slow-mo Matrix action scenes that show Milla Jovovich in full Alice mode.  (Is this "Three Musketeers" or "Resident Evil?!")  But on the up side Anderson has assembled a cast far better then he deserves and they save the flick.  Love the likes of Orlando Bloom as the bad guy, Ray Stevenson as the sassy Porthos, Juno Temple as the refined Queen and the underused Christoph Waltz as the devious Cardinal.  Great cast + wrong style = watchable flick.

Best Feature: 'Access: Three Musketeers' is at least a decent behind the scenes style doc that can be viewed while you watch the flick – certainly makes Anderson’s cred go up.

Best Hidden Gem: Mads Mikkelsen steals the show as the quiet but cunning Rochefort.

Worth the Moola: This is one of those flicks that you rent in the store because it’s a new release – mildly entertains and then floats down forgettable falls.
