The Flick: From all the scathing reviews and non-existent box office, I was expecting a real turd from the new Bruckheimer version of "The Lone Ranger."  Surprise, surprise – the flick is actually fun.  I don’t know what film the naysayers watched, but the movie I saw was on par and often times better then most of those redundant Pirates sequels.  (First Pirates not withstanding – it’s a masterpiece!)  Not to say that the film is flawless or without shameful moments (the whole wrap around story with an aging Tonto and a little kid is annoying as hell!), but it was entertaining for sure.  As far as the cast, Depp is creatively insane as always (and great!), Armie Hammer stands tall when he’s wearing the mask (not so much when it’s off!) and bad guy William “Master Chang” Fichtner turns in yet another five-star performance as an almost unrecognizable scarred bad guy.  Mix all that with some cool train chases and goofy comedic bits and you’ve got a flick that delivers a good time – nothing more, nothing less.  (Though putting praise from quote whore Pete Hammond on the box isn’t helping Ranger’s case!)

Best Feature: 'Riding The Rails of The Lone Ranger' is an engrossing doc where we see the madness (and genius) of Director Gore Verbinski using real and practical trains.

Best Hidden Gem: 'Bloopers' reel shows how much fun everyone was having and in the flick it shows. (Plus see the above praise for the Fichtner!)

Worth the Moola: Want to see a flick that wants to achieve nothing more than being light entertainment?  "The Lone Ranger" is it - and it doesn’t totally suck!
