Blu-ray Review: 'The Human Centipede 2 (Full Sequence)'
Who better to keep the Dr. Heiter human centipede idea going then a short, fat security guard who lives with his mom and has no surgical ability? Welcome to "The Human Centipede 2 (Full Sequence)" on both DVD and Blu-ray Feb. 14 from IFC Midnight and MPI Media Group. Follow the congo line below!
Cast: Laurence R. Harvey, Ashlynn Yennie, Vivien Bridson
Director: Tom Six
Rating: Not Rated
Runtime: 91 minutes
Release Company: IFC Midnight/MPI Media Group
The Flick: I must admit that when I saw this one at a midnight screening with an eager audience the film was a real hoot. It does have a different but equally memorable quality for home viewing, namely a real creepy, eerie and fascinating lead performance by Laurence R. Harvey as the mum Martin. As a disturbed man who becomes obsessed with the insane work of Dieter Laser’s Dr. Heiter from the first film, Harvey creates enough quirks (he doesn’t talk the whole film!) and ticks (the inhaler thing adds another layer of oddball!) to give the first film a run for it’s money. Plus for those who criticized Tom Six for going easy the first time around, there’s both blood and gore galore in the form of one nasty homemade twelve-person centipede – ask and you shall receive. Not for everyone, the second helping is every bit as meaty and filling as the first.
Best Feature: The 'Interview with Tom Six' is one of his most revealing yet (besides my recent one of course!) – plus he explains how he and his dog are very much alike!
Best Hidden Gem: 'Making the Poster' is a fascinating doc on how the sick posters are really put together.
Worth the Moola: If you can stomach the sin and the cavalcade of extras within, have the Martin over for din.
